Thornton Medical Centre is a busy GP practice in Leeds and we’re looking for a full-time Nurse apprentice. You will spend half the week in the practice hands-on and half the week online distance learning with University of Derby

Training Description:
  • 2.5 days hands-on experience within the GP practice, 2.5 days distance learning with University of Derby
  • weeky live tutorial with University of Derby
  • clinical skills residential week
  • 5 week placement each year in another healthcare setting
  • University start date 11th January 2027, finish 28th February 2030
Full Description:

Typical duties for a student nurse include:

  • Assist registered nurses and other clinical staff with the delivery of high-quality patient care
  • Under the supervision of a registered nurse perform and record clinical observations including blood pressure, pulse, blood tests, ECGs
  • Assist with preparing clinical areas, equipment and supplies
  • Maintain accurate and confidential patient records in accordance with organisational policies
  • Follow infection prevention and control procedures and maintain high standards of cleanliness and safety
  • Follow all relevant health and safety, safeguarding, confidentiality, and professional policies.
  • Participate in training, supervision, assessments, and educational activities associated with the apprenticeship.
  • Develop clinical knowledge and practical nursing skills through supervised learning and experience
  • Undertake other appropriate duties within the scope of the apprenticeship and level of competence
Outcome Description:

Upon successful completion of the programme, you will be eligible to apply for registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council.

Description of Working Week:

Monday – Friday, 8.30am – 4.00pm.
