Meet the team

Tanya

Service Manager

I work with an amazing team to help young people access the right support at the right time. I believe that building positive relationships makes a real difference, and I always aim to be approachable and supportive. I’ve worked as a careers adviser for many years and love seeing young people succeed and achieve their goals.

Outside of work, I love holidays and hiking, although I’m not always the most reliable when it comes to directions!

Alfie

Digital Media Officer

I manage the Social Media pages and Website for Connexions Wakefield, sharing local vacancies, events and opportunities for young people across the district. The creative freedom to design graphics and videos for the past few years has been quite fun! My main interests are video games, films and manga, especially anything horror related. Often going out for photography sessions or gigs!

Liz

Digital Careers Adviser

I have felt very lucky that I have had the opportunity to have worked with young people and young adults for many years where I have provided advice and guidance in settings such as special educational schools, youth clubs, housing, colleges and now digitally. I love helping others, in reaching their full potential, overcome barriers and move on into something positive whether this is a hobby, education, employment, training, or volunteering.

When I’m not in work, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, watching movies, cooking, travelling and taking my dog Bailey for walks.

Sam

Digital Careers Adviser

I have worked with young people now for 32 years, mostly in jobs that have involved supporting 16-25s into education, employment or training. I love what I do and seeing the young people I help move into their first job or starting a college or training course makes me really happy. It’s a great feeling seeing someone I’ve supported move forward – anything from going on a new bus journey or going to a new place to starting work or college.

When I’m not in work I love going to gigs, listening to music, watching films (a lot of horror), cooking and growing fruit and veg on my allotment.

Lesley

Digital Careers Adviser

I have worked with young people for over 25 years, supporting them to overcome their barriers, build confidence, and achieve their full potential. I have loved every minute and feel privileged to have played a part in helping them move forward and create positive futures. Outside of work, I enjoy keeping fit through running, cycling, and hiking. I have completed several marathons and ultra-marathons and love the sense of achievement which comes from completing these distances. I also attend parkrun every week, the 5k distance is much easier than running marathons.
